Buttered Gorgonzola Biscuits

Heyyy there. I totally feel like I have been MIA lately but I did start my new job this week so that is certainly keeping me busy and of course a little extra tired, but alas I am here to give you posts!

So where are all my cheese lovers at!? This is a wicked easy “add-on” to a basic side to a meal. And it is one you’ll want to use over and over.

What is it you ask? —Buttered Gorgonzola Biscuits

What you’ll need:

-One package of Biscuits. I used Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers (there were 8 jumbo in the package)

-2 Tbsp of Butter

-Gorgonzola cheese. I used Freshly Crumbled BelGioioso

The steps are simple! Open up the package of biscuits….seriously does this scare anyone else or is it just me? POP! 😉 Place them on an ungreased sheet and set the oven at 350 degrees.

unnamed-7  unnamed-11

On the stovetop, melt 2 tbsp of butter on low. Once the butter is melted, start to stir in the gorgonzola, I used about a handful. Stir the cheese consistently until it turns creamy.

unnamed-6 unnamed-9 unnamed-10

With a pastry brush, top all of the biscuits evenly until you use all the melty cheesy goodness.

unnamed-12 unnamed-4 unnamed-3

Toss em in the oven and bake for about 15 min or until golden brown and VOILA! Look at those beauties.

Enjoy with your favorite meal. I had them with some Italian Wedding soup after this long chilly Tuesday.

Just trying to get these biscuits to the world…

Talk soon, xxo

A Love Feeling

Hello, hello!

I hope you all are having a cozy Sunday evening. I myself, am heading to listen to a live band for a few hours, have a warm toasty grilled cheese at one of my favorite spots, and then back home to watch some Primetime Football (been waiting all day for a Sunday night!)

Sending you lots of love!

Local Loves; Providence

It is a grey, cold, foggy morning this morning, making the orange leaves pop out more than anything else. I am really not looking forward to seeing those bare branches and preparing for snow, eek! What’s even stranger is that it was actually a beautiful and sort of warm day yesterday, go figure, but this is New England.

One of my favorite things to do with my free time (besides writing, of course) is to eat and drink! I love trying out new restaurants, new cocktails, and great food. One of the best ways to find new places you haven’t been is to chat it up with the locals while you’re out. Just the other night I got some great recommendations for restaurants and bars (with plenty of craft beer lines, perfect!). Even sometimes just hopping into the car and going to a town you haven’t been to explore can lead you to some gems.

But even when I am not finding new spots to check out, we all have our favorites. Some our just down the street, some are a bit of a drive…but we know that we love the atmosphere, the great food, the people, and the overall experience. I have a few “local loves” which is why I have started a new category where I mention some new, some old, and some serious loves that you need to check out if you’re ever in the area!

Yesterday, mid-day, Me and Mama decided to head to Providence, RI, if only just for a few hours to get out of the house. Providence is one of our favorite cities and it is closer to us than Boston, probably about 45 min. When we got there we stopped into a few antique and vintage shops but we head one destination in mind; The Duck and Bunny. This is one of my personal favorite restaurants, and probably my Mama’s most favorite. It is a quaint little restaurant, no actually they call it a “snuggery”, which is simply a cozy and comfortable place. And it sure is! Decorated in a white pallet with hints of soft gray and dim lighting, you feel right at home sitting on their comfy couches or at the cupcake bar. Yes, you read that right. If you have a love for anything sweet, these cupcakes are a must!

First though we decided to have a bit of food and a glass of wine, a bold apple-flavored buttery Chardonnay. As we usually do, we decided to split a bunch of smaller plates. This time around we ordered latkes (with sour cream and scallions), they were so crunchy and still warm from the oven. We also got herb cheese and tomato toasts, which if you love anything cheese, just trust me, it was delicious! And the absolute HAVE TO HAVE item on the menu…bacon wrapped dates. Seriously it’s like eating bacon wrapped candy, my goodness, I am just drooling thinking of them. The first time we ever ordered them, we split an order, and then ordered more! They are that good.

We then, of course, had to have cupcakes. I had a Red Velvet and Mama chose a Carrot Cake. And another round of Chard, duh 😉

Check out their website here >> http://www.theduckandbunny.com

We ended up staying longer than two couples who came and went, I’m telling you, you will get so comfortable and want to keep eating until you can’t move! But we weren’t quite ready to go all the way home yet.

On our way to the next place, I spotted some really fun street art on the side of a Salon building. Cool huh?

Mama reminded me of this restaurant that we had been to on Christmas Eve a few years back. Checking the location, we were under a mile away and decided to go back for a drink. The restaurant is CAV; a really cozy, bohemian, warm colored spot. I love everything about the lighting and the Buddha sculptures and Indian-themed decorations.

We were some of the only people in there, partially because we stopped at weird time. We sat at the bar and had one beverage before heading home.

Mama had another glass of Chardonnay. Check out their beautiful glass storage, it looked so gorgeous and pristine.

I decided to go out of the box and try something from the Martini List. Although I am not huge martini person, I decided to order a Prickly Pear, but on the rocks. I like the ice and the glassware better 😉

It was delish!

Check out their website here >> http://cavrestaurant.com

It was nice to get out of the house and go to one of our favorite spots and also to stop by a place we hadn’t been in awhile to remind us of how much we liked it. With full stomachs and happy moods we drove home to relax for the rest of the night.

I hope you liked reading my Local Loves, Providence. Have you ever been to the area? What are some of your favorite local spots near you? Look out for more Local Loves! xxo

Weekend Fun/Deals

Hello pretty people!

I hope you all had a fab weekend. I know I did! I wanted to talk a little about my weekend, and of course hear all about yours too. I did a little shopping and wanted to show off some great deals I found.

On Friday night I went to see a band. They are called Trailer Trash (haha I know) but they are a beyond awesome country cover band. I haven’t found many bands that cover country songs and I’ve seen Trailer Trash three times now and it is always so much fun!

Saturday was one of those days where you stay in your jammies and eat bacon and wait until it’s dark out and then watch movies and drink red wine. It was rather relaxing.

Sunday I went out in search of some new work clothes, because I did get a new job! I am super excited to start and wanted to get a few *new* things for a *new* start. I found some great stuff that I will show you in a bit. After that I headed to one of my favorite breweries; Rapscallion located in Sturbridge, MA. They unfortunately didn’t have any live music yesterday but when they do the tasting rooms fill up with people, dogs, babies, good conversation, and of course, GREAT beer. Me and Mama ended up playing Jenga and hanging out for awhile. P.S. I was also LOVING my denim on denim outfit, so here that is too 😉

I bought a couple pairs of work pants at New York & Co, which had a deal buy one get one 50% off. I didn’t take pictures as they are just basic grey and black dress slacks. But a good deal so check it out! The rest of my purchases came from Forever 21 believe it or not and I am loving the items (and the prices of course!)

Come Home

Lovely evening to you all!

I know I am a bit late but I have been quite busy today running around doing a few errands and of course having a little fun too 😉 But I do know that we could all use some Sunday love!

Suddenly Simple

Happy Friday Eve! 😉

I hope everyone is having a nice Thursday so far. It’s been a busy, rainy morning for me but I just HAD to share with you a -NEW- product that I tried the last couple of nights for dinner! If I can let you in on one thing about me, is that I do not cook. I actually very much dislike it and I always joke that I am a terrible housewife in training. BUT my Mama picked up something at the grocery store in the beginning of the week that looked simply…well simple. And it was!

Good ‘ol Betty Crocker has a new line called “Suddenly Salad” I believe she also has Pasta (salads) but the ones I am talking about are all Grain based. Suddenly Grain Salad. Mom picked them up at our local Price Chopper where it retailed for around $2.69 each. I have also read that you can get them at WalMart for around $1.89. They have three flavors;

> Harvest Grains– brown, wild, and red rice, quinoa, with cranberries and almonds, and a sweet blush vinaigrette.

>Tuscan Grains–brown rice, quinoa, wheat berries, red peppers, with almond pieces, and a tomato parmesan herb dressing.

>Southwest Grains–brown rice, quinoa, with black beans, corn, red peppers, and a chipotle vinaigrette. (This is the one I am featuring in this post)

Before I get into how it is prepared, I wanted to note that they are pretty low in calories per serving. I am not the healthiest nut to be honest (I’m sure this goes hand in hand with actually cooking meals) but I thought I’d share with those of you who are looking for the facts. You can prepare this dish on its own, as a side, or like I have, on a salad.

What you need: (aside from the boxed ingredients)

-Vegetable/Olive oil

-Your choice of dressing

I decided I wanted to add chicken to this dish for a little bit more protein and just to make a larger salad in general. I used already cooked Tyson diced chicken breast, warmed it up on the stove, and then cut it up to smaller pieces (as I like my salad “chopped”)

unnamed-4   unnamed-5   unnamed-6

From there, simply follow the box instructions and fill up a pot half way with water and bring it to boil. When the water is boiling drop in the packaged rice/grains/beans/corn mix –keeping it IN the bag. Set the timer for 17 minutes, turning the bag over once halfway through.

unnamed-7   unnamed-9   unnamed-10

Next you want to prepare the dressing. Again, following the box instructions, you will need a small bowl, 2 tablespoons of vegetable OR olive oil, and 2 tablespoons of cold water. Mix everything together and set aside.

unnamed-12   unnamed-13   unnamed-14

unnamed-16   unnamed-17   unnamed-18

While the grains are still cooking, you can prepare your greens. For my salad I simply used lettuce and dressing. The reason I chose to put more dressing on the salad than what was already given is because it would have been too dry for my liking. This choice is up to you and you can use any variation of dressing you’d like. I chose to use a Light Caesar, and then put my diced chicken right on top.

   unnamed-19   unnamed-20   unnamed-21

unnamed-22   unnamed-23   unnamed-24

When your grains have finished cooking, you want to drain the water and place the bag in a strainer as well. DO NOT REMOVE CONTENTS YET. (Just warning you because I almost did) Let the cold water run over the grains for 1-2 min until cool. Then let all of the water drain from the bag of grains.

unnamed-25   unnamed-26   unnamed-27

Almost there! Pour the bag of grains into the bowl with the chipotle dressing and mix all together.

unnamed-28     unnamed-29

Scoop some of the grains onto your salad and voila! I’m serious, it’s really that easy, and it tastes SO good. (I ate mine with a piece of garlic bread on the side as well)

unnamed-30   unnamed-31   unnamed-3

YUM! I give this two thumbs up for sure! I have also tried the Tuscan grains which are just as delicious, just different flavors. And you better believe the Harvest grains are sitting in my cabinet just waiting for me 😉 I hope you try them out and if you do let me know what you think and how you’ve prepared them! Until next time! xxo

Lust List

How are we all doing on this Tuesday morning? 🙂

Because it is the beginning of a new month and all of the Holidays are coming up and a new year, I can’t help but think of some things that are on my wish list. I like to make a list, current longings, things I’m lusting for at the moment. What’s good about putting together a list is that if someone asks you what you want for a gift, birthday, Christmas, etc, you won’t be sitting there going “uhhh….welll…..” Maybe that doesn’t happen to you, but I always seem to go blank when asked. Even if it’s just a gift to yourself, making a list will give you time to save  up your money, or be a good reminder to look for it when you’re out shopping.

If you don’t always carry a notebook with you, there are other options for making a list that is easy for you to access. The note section on your cell phone is a good option because you can update it and make changes or erase things as you find them. One of my other favorite ways to make a lust list is to make a Pinterest board. Mine is called “Current Longings”

unnamed-3    unnamed-4

For the last few months I have had two things on my list that I just couldn’t get off my mind! I ended up finding them last month and I am so happy I did.  I even got both pieces at the same place and for great prices!

1. The first item was a pair of leopard slip on sneakers. I had seen so many versions of them, paired with so many cute outfits all over Pinterest or on blogs that I admire. I HAD to have them! I toyed with spending $80-$100 on more expensive brands but kept waiting, hoping I’d find them for less.

Inspiration (Steve Madden, $80)                                  Bought (Mossimo, Target, $25)

2. The second item I was drooling over was a good sized emerald or forest green handbag. I am way less obsessed with handbags than I once was, and I tend to stick to neutrals (black, brown, white) but seeing the green pop with an outfit for the Fall/Winter had me intrigued.

Inspiration (Michael Kors, $398)                           Bought (Merona, Target, $40)

I made a list of five things on my current Lust List. Some of these things I will be able to find at pretty decent prices, while others are what they are. A lust list can be anything from clothing, accessories, household items, books, anything you just are truly desiring. And it’s okay if your list changes as you discover new things or happen to stray away from a current trend.

1. Polaroid Pic-300 Instant Print Camera

I first saw this on Instagram and immediately had a flashback to childhood. In all honesty, I think that is why I want it most, plus who doesn’t love an instant photo? Being able to capture fun moments instantly and hang them up, send them in a letter, etc is so appealing to me. The camera develops 2.1×3.4″ color photos. The camera comes in four available colors (red, purple, black, and blue), I want the black one if you couldn’t guess. It works with PIF-300 instant film.

2. Camel Coat

This is pretty self explanatory. I think a camel coat is so classic and also completely neutral, meaning it can go with anything, dress it up, dress it down. I want one that is fitted, warm, stylish, and possibly with leather (or pleather) sleeves. I don’t have a dream one that I prefer, if I find a good one worth buying, I’ll look anywhere, including consignment stores.

3. Bellami Hair Extensions

This would definitely be a splurge for me. I don’t have the thickest hair and it has become so damaged with all the times I have colored it. I also live in area with terrible water filled with things that are not healthy for your hair. I have watched numerous YouTube videos and read reviews on how great these extensions are and I’d love to try them.

4. Love (A Misadventure) & Lullabies–Lang Leav

These are two books, the Author being Lang Leav. I first discovered her poetry via Tumblr and Pinterest. Being an avid reader and writer of poetry, I appreciate her work and think it is absolutely beautiful. I can become a hoarder of books, which is the main reason I have not yet purchased them, but they are up there on my list.

5. All Black Aviators

Aviators are my FAVORITE type of sunglasses. I rarely wear any different style, partially because not many styles fit my face very well. I have mirrored blue ones, gold and brown ones, and pink framed ones. I want a pair of all black ones for Winter, I think they would look so chic with so many looks and are less “summery” looking. I don’t usually purchase expensive sunglasses because I tend to lose/break them, but I am having trouble finding these.

What do you have on your Lust Lists for this season? Thanks for stopping by! xxo

Good morning loves!

I hope everyone has had a blast this weekend. Now that it’s Sunday, take the time to relax. Grab a coffee, a blanket, and snuggle in. Or if you’re anything like me, head to a football game with 22 mph winds and reported snow already on the field! Brr, it’s going to be a cold one!

Here is my latest addition to Sunday Amore`

Talk soon! xxo

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

As I sit here on this beautiful fall morning drinking my caramel coffee, I am reminiscing on past Halloweens I’ve had. There are two types of Halloweens really, Trick or Treating and Parties. Because there comes a time when you can no longer go trick or treating unfortunately because an 18 year old carrying a pumpkin basket just isn’t as cute anymore. And then you go through High School and College dressed as school girls, hippies, or grabbing a pair of animal ears and calling it a costume. Then almost as a cycle, you have kids and your back on the streets asking for candy.

What I love,  is that Halloween has always been fun. There is no stress (unless you’re like me and always make your costume last minute), there is candy and food shaped as disgusting things, there are no awkward family moments, it simply just is a good time. Even the month of October alone is all leading up to the end, the big shabang, before in a matter of minutes while you’re taking down the pumpkins there are carolers outside singing “White Christmas”.

The haunted houses, bonfires, cider, pumpkin carving, decorations, and of course little kiddos and dogs in costumes, because is there anything cuter!?

I hope you all have a fun-filled, candy-stuffed, spooky Halloween. Here is a peek at my costume, can you guess what I’m being!? 😉

SoWa Sundays

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Good morning to you! I wanted to share some of my photos from spending time in Boston yesterday afternoon with my Mama at the SoWa open market. SoWa is an open air crafts and art market showcasing handmade goods by talented small business owners. It is open every Sunday from May through October from 10am-4pm. Along with the open market, there is also a farmers market, a food truck court, and an indoor vintage market which is open year round. It is located on Harrison Ave in Boston’s South End.

It turned out that for the last Sunday of the season there was also a Halloween costume contest called Carnival of Curiosities. There were some beyond awesome costumes and everyone dressed up from couples, babies and little kids, to dogs.

SoWa Open Market

We started off by walking around the outdoor market first. It was definitely a little chilly out but there were plenty of vendors with scarves, mittens, and sweaters. There are so many unique pieces of art, jewelry, clothing, candles, home items, etc to look at!

We then headed into the vintage market- filled with all sorts of antiques, collectibles and vintage goods. This market is open year round since it is indoors.

SoWa Farmers Market

Back outside to the Farmers Market where you will find all farm and speciality food vendors. If you think you are going to walk away without eating or drinking anything, you are wrong! Free samples are often given and there is so much fresh produce, which is so beautiful to just look at.

SoWa Food Truck Court

If you didn’t already eat, or want to eat, everything at the farmers market, just a few steps down the street is where all the food trucks are waiting for you. Everything from pizza, grilled cheese, an all bacon themed truck, ice cream, thai food, whatever you were craving-they had a food truck for it!

Mama and I decided on ice cream, which was the worst choice on such a cold day but we just couldn’t say no!

Once we realized the time, we walked back over to the open market to see some of the costumes. They had a stage set up with a terrifying clown head and played some classically spooky Halloween music.

It was such a fun afternoon and I am glad I made it out to the last Sunday of the season. If you are ever in the area you must check it out. It will be back open in May! Markets are such a good way to do something different, eat some great food, and get inspired by all of the creative people who come to share their work and handmade goods. I hope I didn’t make you all too hungry! Have a great day and enjoy the week ahead! xxo
